The 2012 edition of Eurocat has seen the VIPER compete in its own 23 strong fleet. The Viper is being represented by 5 nationalities and 18 mixed teams with Olympians and club sailors all competing on the same course.

Day 1 saw 3 races in almost perfect conditions, starting with 12 knots and building to 18 by the last race.

However, 3 days into EuroCat and we have still only had 3 races. Currently Audrey Ogereau is leading the Viper fleet 3 points clear of Moana Vaireaux.

A number of OCS results have kept the results mixed but after another race the fleet will pick up a drop and we will see some of the fastest sailors back up to the positions they belong

14 time world champion Darren Bundock was very impressed with level of Viper sailing. “All the Vipers are going fast; I am extremely impressed with the level here”

The fleet awoke yesterday to light conditions, but the warning of 30+ knots kept the race committee cautious and they choose to keep the fleet ashore and evaluate the conditions. By 2pm we had 30 knots and building so racing was postponed for the day.

It is doubtful we will see the long distance race today, however as the wind eases we may see a few course races held this afternoon.
